You are not alone

Living with a food allergy, intolerance, coeliac disease or another food-related condition can sometimes feel isolating.

Simple things like going out for a meal, travelling, attending an event or eating with friends can involve questions, planning and uncertainty.

Food Allergy Friends is here to bring people together.

Our community is a place to share experiences, learn from one another and help make life with food hypersensitivity feel a little easier.

We offer recipes and downloads, along with details of the 14 allergens and links to allergen related charities.

A community that understands

We believe nobody should feel embarrassed, dismissed or afraid to ask questions about their food.

Whether you have lived with food allergies for years, have recently received a diagnosis, care for someone with a food allergy, or work in hospitality and want to understand your customers better, you are welcome here.

Our aim is to create a friendly space where people can:

  • Share their experiences
  • Ask questions
  • Discover useful information and resources
  • Share ideas, recipes and tips
  • Talk about eating out and travelling with dietary requirements
  • Find greater confidence when communicating their needs
  • Support others who understand the challenges of food hypersensitivity

From fear to confidence

For many people living with food allergies, eating socially can be difficult because they cannot always be certain what is in their food.

We want to help change that.

By sharing knowledge and experiences, our community can help people feel more confident asking about ingredients, discussing their requirements and making informed choices.

And for food businesses, understanding the experiences of the food-sensitive customer can make a real difference. Food Allergy Friends works to encourage safer, more inclusive hospitality through education, training and support.

Everyone has a story

Food hypersensitivity doesn’t look the same for everyone.

Our community welcomes people living with:

Food allergies · Food intolerances · Coeliac disease · EoE · Other dietary and food hypersensitivities

You don’t have to have all the answers. You don’t have to know exactly what to ask.

Sometimes, simply talking to someone who understands can make a difference.

Share. Learn. Support.

Tell your story, share a challenge you’ve faced or let others know what has helped you.

A community for food businesses too

Being allergy aware isn’t only about following procedures. It’s about understanding the person sitting on the other side of the table.

Food Allergy Friends supports hospitality and catering businesses with allergen awareness, consultancy, training and its Cater Allergy Safer recognition programme.

Our community helps bring these two sides together:

People who need to eat safely.
Businesses that want to serve them safely.

Together, we can help create a food environment where asking about allergens is normal, information is clear and customers can enjoy eating out with greater confidence.
