Adventure Island Overview

In June this year (2026), I had the pleasure of carrying out the Cater Allergy Safer© audits.

The site covers approximately 7 acres, and there are over 20 individual food outlets. The catering team is headed up by a director who is responsible for, and passionate about, food safety and allergen management. Safety across the park is extremely important to the owner and directors, as is being inclusive of customers who face extra challenges in life, and this is reinforced and instilled in all staff.

Staff have been trained to ask customers if there are any allergies, to offer the allergen and ingredient information, and to direct customers to a more suitable outlet where necessary.

Whilst there is still work to be done, Adventure Island is outstanding in their consideration for customers who have special dietary needs, and they have taken many steps towards ensuring that there are options for everyone. A great deal of attention has been given to staff training and sourcing products which are suitable for both those with food hypersensitivities and vegans. They also ensure dedicated equipment and processes to minimise the risks of allergen cross-contamination where possible.

There are a few food outlets where it is not possible to separate foods and processes due to the size of the unit and the food offered. That said, there are several outlets where there are choices for the food-allergic diner. There are many gluten-free options and vegan options, which are also suitable for those living with a milk or egg allergy.

Adventure Island is the first theme park I have discovered where it is possible to order a gluten-free, milk free, egg free, and soya free pizza.

Below are the Cater Allergy Safer© ratings for the 12 outlets.

Cater Allergy Safer Three-star ratings

Feelgoods Restaurant and Take-away

The glass frontage, eith bold red framing, of Feelgoods Diner, Adventure Island. Pizza, Pasta, Play.

Feelgoods counts as two outlets, because it has a separate service area for takeaway.

It is a Pizza and Pasta restaurant where you will find a wide variety of choices. There are also burgers, hot dogs, salads and sides, and there is something for everyone.

For the food hypersensitive diner there is even a gluten free, milk free, egg free, vegan pizza. How amazing is that?

To reassure anyone living with food allergies, there is separate equipment, and the gluten-free pizza bases are delivered to the site in their own foil tray with no toppings, so you can have a conversation with the staff and get the toppings that you choose. Your Pizza will then be cooked on the top shelf of the oven with space all around it to make sure it does not come into contact with anything you need to avoid.

Sands by the Sea

The glass frontage of "Sands by the Sea" with a sign saying "Heritage Fish and Chips".

“A right Royal Restaurant”, Sands has retained their three-star Cater Allergy Safer recognition this year.

At Sands, you can find a very wide range of meal choices, with something to meet the needs of every diner, regardless of dietary requirements.

There are dedicated fryers and utensils used at Sands, as well as a separate preparation area, so that risks of allergen contamination are kept to a minimum.

We can vouch for the Gluten Free Fish and Chips. It was delicious, with a crispy batter and the option of ‘non-brewed condiment’ for those who need free-from vinegar on their fish and chips. There are lots of options for the food-hypersensitive diner, with gluten-free, milk-free and egg-free as standard for some of the meals. This includes scooped ice cream, with several flavours which do not contain any of the top 14 allergens.

Over at Sealife Adventure, on the east side of the park, you will find a café with a selection of sandwiches, jacket potatoes, kids’ meals and main meals, including burgers, chicken, and fish.

Again, there are gluten-free and vegan options, and there is dedicated equipment for chips and other food items to reduce the risk of allergen contamination as much as possible.

The café is fronted by two kiosks, where you can get donuts or ice cream. This year, Three Shells Beach Café earned a 2-star Cater Allergy Safer Award.

Dino’s Diner is near the area of Adventure Island that appeals to younger visitors. There are kids’ meals, adult meals, jacket spuds with a choice of filling, burgers and hot dogs.

You can find gluten-free and vegan options, and at Dino’s Diner (formerly Dining-Saurs), there are dedicated fryers and equipment to ensure the safety of those with food allergies.

Britannia

The Britannia - Fish and Chips

A good old-fashioned fish and chip shop, with the added option of a jacket potato with a choice of filling.

The chips are cooked in a dedicated fryer and the oil is kept separate from the fish fryer to avoid cross contamination of gluten.

The Green

The Green, Donuts kiosk at Adventure Island.

It makes sense to want a snack after playing a round of golf on the Adventure Golf course, and The Green is the perfect spot to get a drink or an ice-cream.

There are choices of ice cream that do not contain any of the top 14 allergens, so these are suitable for both food-hypersensitive diners and vegans.

Candy Cottage and Candy Shack

Candy Cottage and Candy Shack menu card

For those with a sweet tooth there is candyfloss, popcorn, sticks of rock, and ice cream.

Enquire about fudge for allergens, but all varieties are made with milk, therefore are not suitable for those with a milk allergy, or for vegans.

The Eatery

Adventure Island "The Eatery"

Fast food with a smile, also with care to serve you safely by using separate, dedicated equipment to reduce the risk of cross contamination to a minimum.

There are a few options for gluten-free, milk-free, and egg-free diners.

Chips with Dips

The Chips with Dips kiosk at Adventure Island.

As the name suggests, this kiosk is purely for chips, with a pot of dip of your choice. Because the chips are the only food served here, they are guaranteed to be free from 13 of the top 14 allergens.

They, like all fried foods across Adventure Island, are cooked in soya oil. The only dips and toppings on offer that contain any of the top 14 allergens are the mayonnaise (egg), cheese (milk), and curry sauce (wheat, mustard and soya).

Mega Bites

Megabites at Adventure Island. For ice creams and sorbets.

Another food outlet where you can get a delicious, refreshing ice-cream that is suitable for those living with food allergies.

There are three flavours, vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and sorbets and sauces, also suitable for many different dietary requirements.

Congratulations to all these outlets for achieving their Cater Allergy Safer ratings!
